Are you borrowing energy from tomorrow?

🌿 Natural Lifestyle Letters

Dearest Reader, schools have started again, and somehow we got trapped in busyness - again, pushing through with caffeine and willpower:

It is alright, if I'm tired, I catch up on sleep on the weekend.

If I sip one more espresso, then I can open my eyes.

I do just this one thing, and then I have earned rest.

But tiredness isn't actually something you need to "fix". What if you could stop borrowing energy from tomorrows you?

I used to be a busy bee, and I thought that I should do work first and THEN I could rest. But I had no energy left to do all I planned to do.

I watched my husband take it easy, and a mean voice in my head said: How can he rest when there are so many things to do?

But then, when I was completely burnt out and in tears over my to-do lists, he whipped up a simple dinner in half an hour with his balanced energy and calm existence.

He was calm because he knew the rhythm of natural energy.

Rather than being a container, we should constantly refill; natural energy has a rhythm.

By following our natural energy flows and dips, we get the idea of how to balance them like surfing on the waves rather than swimming against the stream.

Start with one or two weeks.

Mark down your sleep time, when you eat, what you did, and how you felt.

When you start to map out your energy waves, you can use these 3 natural rhythms as a starting point:

  • Daily energy rhythm
  • Cyclical rhythm
  • Seasonal rhythm

To learn how to start recognizing the energy patterns and how to work with the energy you have, I’ll open up more about the three rhythms here.

Because the answer isn't always another coffee to get through the afternoon. Sometimes it's simply recognising that your energy has changed β€” and choosing actively to work with it.

For me, that might mean switching to a low-caffeine tea after 5 pm instead of reaching for another espresso, or simply letting the low-energy part of the day be slower.

You might not need to create more energy. You might just need to start listening to the energy you already have.

Every day makes a difference β™‘
