🌿 This one thing kept me from starting

🌿 Natural Lifestyle Letters

Reader, when I started drying herbs, I thought at first that I needed a dehydrator or that beautiful drying rack I saw on Instagram to hang on the ceiling to dry herbs “properly“ or “professionally”.

Turned out that drying herbs is so much simpler than that.

Herbs are not fussy.

To dry herbs properly and to keep their flavor and properties, they need basically just air, shade and time.

That’s it.

Otherwise, you can dry them almost however you like, for example, in a bouquet that you can hang

  • from a door handle
  • from that random nail next to the doorway
  • from the rack no-body uses
  • from the nail of a painting (my mom does that, some herb bouquets just match with certain paintings)
  • from a curtain rod

Or you can dry herbs from hooks attached to a shelf like I love to dry mints for the Moroccan mint tea (with my husband's recipe) for the winter. Herb bouquets brightens up beautifully our hallway to the kitchen:

Other ways to dry the herbs are, for example, to dry them flat on a tray or a strainer frame, or sew them on a thread like a string of pearls; you can see examples with pros and cons here.

So you see, you can dry herbs sustainably without any power needed for a dehydrator or oven, or anything.

Start with a simple bouquet of your favourite herbs, let them dry until crisp dry, and store them to steep a cup of perfect herbal tea whenever you want to sip it.

Every day makes a difference ♡

PS. Send me back a photo of your herbal bouquet drying. Where did you hang it?
