πŸŽ‰ New recipe! Vanilla Matcha Latte

@BlueTeaTile

Hi Reader,

You might recognise this feeling. Matcha and I, we didn't have a great start. To be honest, I didn't like it at all.

The grassy flavour simply wasn't for me, and I couldn't understand why so many people loved it and what all the fuss was about.

Then a friend and colleague of mine made matcha fudge for our booth at a Restaurant Day sale.

To my surprise, I loved it!

That made me realise that matcha, paired with vanilla and sweetness, is a whole other story than a plain cup of matcha.

I've been making a vanilla matcha latte at home, both hot and iced, and it has quickly become one of my favourite midday-teas. The vanilla softens matcha's earthy notes and creates a smooth cup without overpowering the tea itself.

If you are new to matcha, check out my latest video to see how it is actually made and how to master the steps (matcha needs a bit of attention to turn out great). I'm sharing the recipe, plus a comparison of vanilla bean, vanilla paste, vanilla extract, and vanilla sugar for those who want to dive deeper into the vanilla options.

What you need for vanilla matcha latte

  • 3g of matcha
  • 30g water, (80Β°C / 176Β°F)
  • 1-2 tsp vanilla paste OR 1/2 vanilla bean
  • 1-2 tsp honey
  • 150ml milk, cold or steamed

Make the matcha base by mixing matcha and water and whisking with the matcha chasen, the bamboo whisk (I like this one), about 30seconds.

Then add vanilla and honey and mix a bit to combine.

For a hot vanillla matcha latte: steam milk and pour swirling motions on the vanilla matcha mixture.

For iced vanilla matcha: Add ice, pour the milk of your choice (I use semi-skimmed or almond milk), and pour the vanilla matcha mixture on the top.

Simple and delicious. Have you been testing with matcha? What you like to combine it with? Hit the reply button and share your favourite with me!

Steep, pour, and enjoy the moment β™‘
