Bucket List for July

Hi Reader, it seems like June went by so quickly β€” can you believe July is already here next week?

If you missed the past months' Natural Living Bucket List, you can find it here: June Bucket List.

Don't know about you, but July is for us the official stay-out-as-much-as-you-can month. Waters are still quite cold here in the North, but we have been swimming in the sea for a long time for we do as well cold plunges when ice hole swimming during the winter, so why not now!

Here is some Natural lifestyle inspiration for July that I have gathered for you to this July Bucket List:

Collect seashells

Be by the calming sea as much as possible. Collect seashells just to admire them or to add them to your creations: table setting decorations, beautiful touch to simple wreaths or just to make a seashell chain to the corner of a mirror.

Make iced coffee from scratch

Sometimes hot beverages may just feel too much but an iced coffee is a delightful change to the hot coffees. You can make a simple iced coffee with french press or variate flavour with homemade syrups.

Try these recipes:

Dry herbs for herbal teas

Treasures of the herbalist's garden such as lemon balm, sage, oregano, thyme, and mint, can be easily dried and steeped into herbal teas. July is also the time to forage plants from nature like lady's mantle, nettle, fireweed or wild raspberry leaves can be dried for simple wild teas.

Later in July I'll share with you a few tips about drying herbs for tea and how to make Ivan chai by oxidizing fireweed leaves - so keep an eye on your inbox!

Forage blueberries

On the side of herbs it starts to be the time of the blue treat - blueberry β™‘ Forage blueberries to use them fresh or freeze them for later. Make yummy things like blueberry simple syrup to flavour your iced coffees and teas such as blueberry-hibiscus iced tea or bake them in a delicious Finnish blueberry pie.

Walk barefoot

Walk barefoot whenever you can. It's both therapeutic and good for the soles to have a gentle massage and not to be captured by shoes every second. It is also a very simple way to feel more grounded and connected with nature.

Make wildflower bouquets

Make beautiful flower collections with matching colors or the same size flowers and buds. Take inspiration from the bouquets of flower shops on how to arrange the flowers, and pick up some beautiful leaves in your bouquet as well.

Gather what you see on your walks in the nature and enjoy the colors of nature at home as well.

Sleep outside

If you have a tent, now it's the best time to use it. You don't need to make a one-week-long hiking trip; one night on a weekend in the closest forest or camping area is a perfect start. Staying outside even one night in a year is so worth it.

🌿 Natural Lifestyle Letters Reader, making iced coffee from scratch is crazy simple. Here is what you basically need for a lightly seasoned and sweetened iced coffee made with a French press for two: 2 tbsp coffee grounds (15 grams) 1 tsp sugar (optional but rounds the flavour nicely) 1/2tsp cardamom or cinnamon (optional) 150 ml water (130 grams) Heat the water, brew the strong coffee with seasoning and sweeteners in a French press. Let it steep 3 to 5 minutes. Then to make it icy and sweet:...

Cup of Ivan Chai tea with the homemade fermented fireweed loose-leaf tea in a jar.

🌿 Natural Lifestyle Letters Reader, do you ever wish you could enjoy black tea normally, without checking what time of day it is because it has caffeine in it? I stumbled upon Ivan Chai when I was studying more about teas and herbs (you can find my reading suggestions here). Ivan chai is an infusion made of fireweed leaves (also known as willowherb) that have been turned black with the natural process of oxidizing and fermenting. After the process, the flavour is similar to black tea, and...

A youngg girl holding a white plate with white rose petals to dry for flower tea

🌿 Natural Lifestyle Letters Hi Reader, Many edible flowers can be enjoyed far beyond the garden. You can gently pick a few fragrant petals, dry them, and save a little piece of summer for the months ahead. When collecting flowers for tea, always make sure they are edible and haven't been treated with pesticides. Harvest them on a dry, sunny morning after the dew has disappeared, then spread the petals out on a tray or sieve in a well-ventilated place until they are completely dry. At our...
